Kyle came up with a little trick on our last float that was pretty easy. We tied a 3-4 foot section of rope, cord, or whatever else is handy to a caribeaner (sp?) and the other end to the cross bar. Clip between the reel and the first eye and your rod is quick to access and won't get away if you spill. It looks pretty ghetto but it works. I found I could still cast a flyrod while it was clipped on. The downside is that if you flip in fast water the rod could possibly get hung up in debris or otherwise damaged.

Cute animals taste better.

I've used Velcro to keep stuff tied down, but the way I do it won't really work in a tandem. My sarcastic answer is "don't tip over", but I know when you take folks who don't know what they're doing in the tandem it's a reality you sometimes face.

I was at Blue Ribbon Fly Shop in Mountain Home the other day and saw a package of rod straps that you can use to strap your rods to the seat twarts. They were made by Chota. I tried accessing their web site for this product but it's not working. Check your local fly shop for them or visit Blue Bibbon Fly Shop in Mountain Home. They keep them next to the Simms boot cleats.

If you want to see them, go to Chota's websiteand watch the little box with changing pics. They show them in there.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Looks like fast, easy access for those rods, which is great...I'm just not so sure I'd have my Loomis's hanging off the front like that for the snag monsters to gobble up.

Don't want them hanging out the back either. Ask gotmuddy how often he forgets them and snags them while casting.

Threads like this is why I love this board. Good stuff fellas. I only take two, rod handles on each side of the thwart. In a pinch if the canoe is loaded and I can't tuck the rod tip under the gunwales is when I get in trouble. So, uh, don't get in a pinch.
