Gary Lange Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I spent the morning getting the latest downloads for my two Humminbird Units and installing them. I was nervous about it as they cost a bunch of money but I got it done and it was pretty easy. I was on a roll so I went for broke I had the Fish Attractors on a MMC/SD card so I moved it to my PC and then put a new MMC/SD card in and downloaded it to the Humminbird PC and then to the SD card and went out and downloaded it to the 898cSI on my console. Was a piece of cake and now I have these spots marked on my Table Rock Map. I am going to get a new card for the 788c on the bow and then put the attractors on that one also. Pretty neat stuff I think I am liking these Humminbird Units. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
jeb Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 HB makes some very nice units. And the fact that provide free updates for all this cool stuff, like Down Imaging ($600 on a Lowrance!!!), is just awesome. And on top of that, they have wonderful customer support. I've sure happy with my 798 and 997 units. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
flytyer57 Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 The one thing I have noticed with Hummingbird is that the screens are hard to see with polarized glasses. Never had a problem like that with Lowrance/Eagle. Of course I haven't looked at a Hummingbird in several years. Have they fixed this problem yet? There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Gary Lange Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 They must have because I was out yesterday playing and had my Polarized Glasses on and had no problem seeing the screen. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Mitch f Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 Thanks for the idea! I have a portable Humminbird and I'm going to look it up to see if I can get a software update for it! "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
jeb Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 I have no trouble seeing my HB screens with my polarized sunglasses on. I have been following a couple of HB forums for a couple of years now and have never read about that issue, so I guess they must have fixed it some years back. All you need to do to get the free updates is register your unit at their website. You don't have to be the first owner, show a receipt, etc. Just register, enter the serial number and download the update. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
