abkeenan Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Seems to be producing best at this point during the year. Coming down this weekend and wondering if it is worth it getting up early (6AMish) to get out on the water or if I might as well get some more sleep, let the water/sun heat up a bit and get out there a few hours later. Thanks for any help. What can i say i need my beauty sleep if the fish arent biting any better early morning than mid morning. -Brett
Stump bumper Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 The best bite has been early for the past week but there is a cold front moving through right now so things could totally change by the weekend. The shad are moving into the creeks and coves at night and back out during the mornings so if you sleep in, you can catch the feeding spree again around dark a lot of times, but my experince is if you get out around 10am be ready to fish deep and slow. Some cloudy weater this week and cold nights could turn everything around fast though.
abkeenan Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Thanks stump for your info. Any topwater going on in the Dam Area lately? Spinnerbaits and Jigs still producing? Depths would also be appreaciated. Any crappy around the Dam Area or Brushy Creek? Thanks in advance. -Brett
Jeremy Rasnick Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Topwater bite is excellent on the main lake. Look for steep banks that have timber lay downs or standing timber close to the shore. We had 19.25lbs on Monday. Keep in mind, it was the first cloudy day we have had in about 3 weeks. 11 keepers, all on top except 1 on a jig late in the day when the sun came out for a while. Spooks and buzzbaits were the ticket. Didn't try anything else, it probably would have worked as well.
abkeenan Posted October 14, 2010 Author Posted October 14, 2010 Thanks for the heads up on the Dam Area Jeremy. Much appreciated. Will be in the area Friday afternoon til Sunday. Will give the topwater a go for sure and reports what happens after the weekend. -Brett
Spinnaker Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Jeremy: Any particular color spook? I tried topwater last week of September everyday for a bit in the AM but nothing going then. In the past I have had some luck on siver and blue spooks.
