woodman Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Well I decided to yank the trolling motor off the canoe and stick it on the kayak but this time I want foot control to free up my hands. Not going with any electronic device it will be rope and pulleys. And to raise the motor I will just push both feet forward. I mounted the plate with 3- 1/4'' bolts with T-nuts into solid framing below the deck, with rubber off old shocks. I need to come up with an idea to route the rope through the deck, maybe a nylon pc. drilled out at an angle. And then run pulleys along under the deck sides. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
Trout Commander Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Too cool Woodman! I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
TroutRinger Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 That's cheating... ...but its still cool "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
woodman Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 That's cheating... ...but its still cool Hay don't feel like it when motoring (up-stream)..Ha.Ha. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
woodman Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Pvc pipe with a T drilled out to slide back and forth for the foot to push against and bungee cords to keep tension on the cord... And the pull rope to release the catch to be able to raise and lower the motor..... And the speed controll head is just bungeed in-place. http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
Members Rob Kelly Posted June 10, 2011 Members Posted June 10, 2011 Nice setup! Can you give me some more detail on how you removed the speed control and extended the wiring? Also, how did you rig the motor so that you could pull it up and put it back down in the water while still facing forward?
woodman Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Here are a few more detailed pics. of the motor conversion when I first put it on my canoe... http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24091 As far as lifting the motor in the kayak I pulled the release lever rope then pushed both foot pedals forward... The splice in the wiring was done with a trailer type plug... This guy has some good photos... http://wavewalk.com/blog/2009/09/17/john-zoltners-motorized-w500-fishing-kayak-new-york/ http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
