Members SeldomSeen Posted December 9, 2005 Members Posted December 9, 2005 After the cold spell we had this week, do any of you more experienced walleye guys believe it would be worth the attempt this weekend? I'd like to give it a shot, but if they aren't going to participate, I'd rather head to Tanney where I am guaranteed some action. Oh, I'm thinking upper BS. Where would be a good spot to put a boat in?
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 They are planning on generating some power, which is a plus, but I doubt the Shad will be moving, a negative for the upper end, IMHO. I would go to Taney I believe. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 10, 2005 Root Admin Posted December 10, 2005 Depends... how much do you like walleye filets!!!??? I'd be tempted - upper bs.
powerdive Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Not having seen the lake lately, I'd probably play it safe and launch at Beaver Creek. I'd be heading downstream from there, anyway. Too much great water, not enough time. I'll be on Stockton Sunday, checking the spoon bite. Hope to fish BS next week! Good luck if you go.
Members SeldomSeen Posted December 13, 2005 Author Members Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks everybody. I hope to use this info next weekend. After all that discussion about BS and Tanney, I ended up fishing Roaring River.
Members Arkamo Traveler Posted December 17, 2005 Members Posted December 17, 2005 So, Seldom I have a question. Are you Seldom Scene like "Boots of Spanish Leather," Seldom seen like Smith, or just plain rarely witnessed?
powerdive Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Arkamo, as a Traveler are you familiar with the Tri-Lakes? I lied about getting down to Bull Shoals. The couple times I've been out have been on Stockton, fighting the wind. Have caught some walleyes and whites on spoons down deep. Would like to throw a Rogue for those upper BS walleyes, but I'd prefer the air temp to be above freezing so there's no problems with icing in the guides...
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 PD there's very little flow, as a matter of fact you can walk to the rockpile and you see the bottom of the Powersite dam when there's no generation. I'm not an expert on the Eye's, so do you think they will come up on a minimum flow, or will they wait for a generation flow? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
powerdive Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 Wayne SW/MO, just guessing, but I don't think there's much point in trying for walleyes at the Pothole now. Barker Hole would probably be about as far up as you'd find 'em. With the lake down almost 10 feet, there'd be some 12-13 foot water there, but even that might not hold 'em during the day with the water so clear. The water's getting good and cold now, so the stretch from Cedar to Hogan should be prime for throwing Rogues to the channel drops and cuts.
