Members fireman Posted November 8, 2010 Author Members Posted November 8, 2010 thanks for all the help, but one more question. leaning to the canon t2i. comes with the 18-135mm IS lens. what is your all opinion on this lens to the standard 18-55mm lens. one store offers camera with 18-55mm lens, bag, and sd card for $1050, or the other store offers camera with the 18-135mm IS lens, xtra battery, lens hood, uv filter, hdmi cord for $1050. suggestions? fireman
Geoff Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 its an "alright" lens. For most people it will be alright. it will probably suite you well. as far as which one to get, I would definitly go after the 10-135 IS package. extra batteries are super nice to have and a lens hood can be helpful. Plus a bag is cheap enough to buy, get one that you really like vs one that comes with it "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
ness Posted November 19, 2010 Posted November 19, 2010 Something to keep in mind: the camera is really just a tool. You've got a good one, and a good lens. Now it's ALL up to you. I'd suggest reading up on how to take good photos of the things you're interested in. Christmas morning indoor kid shots, kid sports, wildlife, landscape, whatever -- there are tricks in how to setup and take the best shot. You'll likely start out on the "green" or program modes, and those are fine. But get to the point where you know how a camera works, and understand light and composition so you can the most out of the things you're shooting. That will get you more than just a 'snapshot'. Good luck and have fun -- it's a great hobby. John
