Buzz Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Jason Boothe is going to be there too. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 Ok, so that is 5 of us showing up? If someone wants to do food then speak up now. I will be down there around 8:30 probably and want to start fishing by 9:00. Let's meet at the mill by that time. I drive an older s/10 in blue and I think most know what Buzz drives. ollie Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 Update on tomorrow : Lots of wind! At least that is what the weather report shows so be prepared. Buzz Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Update on tomorrow : Lots of wind! At least that is what the weather report shows so be prepared. I know it's a pain, but I was actually hoping for some wind. I just hope its not hurricane force. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted November 27, 2010 Author Posted November 27, 2010 I was hoping for cloudy skies too, but I don't think that is going to happen either. Wind is a good thing, just not gale force like you said, but the weather channel says gusts up to like 25-30 are possible. I don't need to tell you how that will play out! Still looking forward to the challenge though and hope everyone makes it down. dennis boatman Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Well? How'd it go? A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Trout Commander Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Sorry I couldn't make it out guys. I definitely wanted too. How'd everyone do? I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
ollie Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 Oh how the mighty have fallen! I gladly showed them all up and took the bragging rights again! Well, five of us showed up and we started fishing around 9:00. It was tough there was no doubt about that. Fishing started out really tough for all of us at the start of it. We all started on the upper end at first and I caught one of those chubs first thing out. Buzz had a hook-up shortly after that, but other than that it was sloooooooooow. After an hour of that I headed downstream to the middle of the creek where on my first cast I caught a small stocker. Boom, boom, boom another 3 came to hand and then I moved on downstream a ways where I caught 2 more small stocker and a bonus largemouth that went about 13". After fishing that hole for awhile I didn't get anymore strikes or bites at all. I then headed back up to the original hole I was at and caught another one on the way up. Last fish I caught came out of the hole I started at when I decided to move down to the middle of the creek. Caught all of mine on a double bunny tailed jig that looks similiar to a crawdad. By noon I had caught 8 all together and decided to celebrate with an adult beverage while the rest of the pack where still struggling! I was being a little smug probably, but who cares! Maybe next year boys! In all fairness to everyone who was there, Capps was a tough fish to crack yesterday. I think the higher water definetly played a huge part in the tight lipped slicks. That is why I went further downstream and fished. That and I just know the creek pretty well and how it fishes. Buzz Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Well, I managed 4 up by the mill and one at the lower access bridge by noon. It was tough. Since Jason and Brian still needed to catch a fish I took them upstream to the same spots that Ollie had fished. Brian struggled, but he said he learned a lot and wanted to come back and fish it again. Jason started catching fish, I think he ended up with five. I caught another 8 fish. I had a great time. It was good to fish with Ollie and Jason again and nice to meet Brian and his dad. Jason made the comment about how much different it was this week compared to last week and he was right. Big difference. There's always next year OLLIE. I'm up for the challenge. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 Once the water goes back down and levels out for awhile I think it will be fishable again. That being said I also think they will be spread out more too.
