Members Fozzy Posted July 3, 2006 Members Posted July 3, 2006 Well all i can say is kinda neat after the day's fishing to sit there at idle right at dusk and watch the fountains from the lake....Seems like alot of money was spent there for a big shopping center. Went in bass pro was surpised how small it was there. The BPS marina isn't open yet of course, but is anybody noticing more pressure and boat traffic on the lake because indirectly Branson Landing? It is kinda neat they have a few resturants that you can watch the lake from if your a "non-boater" Garfields and Famous Daves BBQ. Just wondering what everybody thinks of this being there now?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted July 3, 2006 No change in traffic. Hasn't been too bad today it seems. BPS is only going to have 16 stalls for their boats... for test driving and selling. One thing about it- I have a friend who has a shop at The Mill on Gretna. He said this morning that he can tell you the exact day the Landing opened by his and all other sales reciepts. Their business died that day and he said he's talked to other vendors on the strip that said the same thing. Not sure if it's true or just an excuse. The thing about the Landing bringing more people to town hasn't kicked in, I pointed out. It's when the convention center opens and brings all those attending big events that aren't now. So all the shops are in competition with other shops/eateries on the strip now. But they are ALOT of people in town this weekend!! Lots of traffic.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted July 3, 2006 May 26? I don't remember. I don't do crafts.
Members Barn Posted July 3, 2006 Members Posted July 3, 2006 I just got back from Branson. I was very disappointed in the Branson Landing. I was envisioning more a "river walk" or at least water front design. Talk about a total waste of location. I am not saying it's not nice, but just a poor design. I have the same thing just a block away from my office here in Plano, TX. Less the Bass Pro. The only thing facing the water are the loading docks of the shops. :-( Why even built it on the water? They could have put it anywhere beside on the lake. Do they really think that people are going to by those condo's? They don't seem to fit the "typical" Branson visitor's profile.
Members Champ Posted July 3, 2006 Members Posted July 3, 2006 It is Independence weekend, so the lake will be busy. I also noticed that the warm water has drawn skiers/swimmers/jet ski's upstream. If they run a lot of water, should push them back down. The waterfront portion is not complete. I agree that it looks barren from the lake side. However, when the rest of the restaurants open up and the 2 marinas get built, it will be a lot more inviting. I'm anxious to take the boat down to the landing and grabbing a burger/beer. As far as condos, they have been selling. I think they are already sold out. I know someone who bought and already sold his condo for a good profit. Baby boomers are coming in and they have money to burn and demand nice places to live.
Members Fozzy Posted July 3, 2006 Author Members Posted July 3, 2006 Yah i heard that too that the condos were sold out already. My Opinion is with Branson landing they should've waited for EVERYTHING to get done in the shopping center before opening it...i mean the riverwalk/bps marina/most of the condos/etc...are not completed yet. Just a greedy developer opening up shop before the place is 100% finished.... However I guess i'm neutral about it, not bad but i don't think it is the "multimillion dollar" great boom to branson either. Yes Friday night right at dark 8:55pm of so, every boat around had thier navigations on, it was dark, a boat right in front of the fountains had kids out on 2 tubes right in front of the landing. I couldn't belive it. I hope they let more cold water out of table rock to keep the idiots away. Taneycomo is no place for waterskiiers and tubes/etc in downtown branson.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 3, 2006 Root Admin Posted July 3, 2006 I don't know... I'm thinking about buying a jet ski myself!! I can see it now... a instructional dvd on fly fishing, jet ski style. :)
