New to forum, Moved to Missouri about 3 years ago I grew up on the East Coast and fished saltwater my whole life Moved to California and salt water fished there too.

When I moved here I was lost without fishing at first, started bassin' at the little lakes but that was sort of seasonal and I wasn't satisfied.

Friend of mine put a fly rod in my hand a few months back and we drove to Bennett, Now I am hooked on fly fishing!!!! Bennett, Montauk, Taney, White River and I guess like others have that Generation phone number for Taney on speed dial just in case I can get away and drive down for a chance for a big brown.

Whole new world this fly fishing!!! Lovin every minute of it and trying to soak up as much as I can and

This seems just the place to do it

I am in Columbia...... Usually have to travel at least 2 hours for trout and more for Taney.... But now we were lucky enough to have them in a little lake by my house as part of the Winter Trout Program . It had been suspended last year as the City cut it out of budget. Fortunatley and Thankfully Trout Unlimited put up some funds and solicited a late in the running anonymous donation which prompted the City to go ahead and put up a share so we would have the program again!!!!!

Allow me to clarify and elaborate on this situation a little bit. The fly rod I put in his hand was a Scientific Angler ($29.99-on sale from Sierra Trading Post for $13.99-Dad buys them in bulk to give away to friends to share the love!) This was a month or so ago.

After a few trips and extensive research on every fly fishing site and review site, his collection has grown to include the following:

1) High Dollar Frog Tog Waders and boots.....bought on clearance of course. ;)

2) A back up pair of waders.....you never know!

3) LL Bean Chest Back

4) Vintage/Retro 1986 Sage RPL 5wt- from the inlaws who retired to Del Boca Vista.

5) New Sage VXP 4wt Blank kit, currenty being turned into a fly rod by my dad.

5) New Echo 2wt rod......Must be for an impending trip to the Smokey Mts to catch

native little brookies in small mountain creeks.

6) New Echo 8 wt rod-for bass fishing next spring. :goodjob:

7) A collection of Lamson and Ross reels already too numerous to mention.

8) Numerous flys, fly boxes, rod cases, leaders, tippets etc, etc, etc, etc. B) Oh yeah..

did I mention the new shades?

I'm glad to have a new friend in the sport but can't figure out why his wife keeps giving me dirty looks.

First welcome to the sight!

Secondly you will fit right in with some of the "gearheads" we have on the board, I fall into the cheap curmudgeon category but really like when the aforementioned "GH's" allow me to try casting some of their new toys. Or ponder over the thought of buying last years. :crywithno:

Yeah I got the fever alright!!! Didn't tell him about the 2nd 8wt rod though . In case, he doesn't get one I can coax him to go to my favorite bass lake this spring during the spawn and haul some fish of the beds

Managed to get that fat torpedo the other day!!!!!
