troutfiend1985 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Just an FYI I was on the Creek yesterday and saw 2 redds and saw trout in spawing colors. That's got me excited, I'm hoping that the spawn goes well this year and we don't have any flooding. And hopefully people will realize that targeting fish on a redd can really hurt a little creek like Crane. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
Buzz Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Good to know. Maybe this cold weather will keep a lot of people from tromping through the redds. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ozark trout fisher Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Good to know. Maybe this cold weather will keep a lot of people from tromping through the redds. Interesting....I thought those light colored circular things you see in the streams this time of year were good, clean places to step. Just kidding, but I do hope that folks will stay off the wild trout creeks during the spawn. It's a good time to fish the C&R season at the trout parks, or fish one of the larger, stocked rivers.

Chief Grey Bear Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 It is also possible that there could be redds even in the White Ribbon streams. I am not telling anyone to stay out, just be on the look out. How cool would that be to have a successful hatch?! If the water stays in the correct range, it is just slightly possible. We all have had the males shoot some love juice while unhooking them around this time of year. I am sure they go through all the motions, so I think it comes down to having the proper water temps. And with the current weather patterns we are experiencing, this could be a productive year. You never know???????? Just something to think about.
