Members SEMOSmallies Posted July 7, 2006 Members Posted July 7, 2006 I am going to the springs this weekend with some family and was wondering if anyone has fished outside the park below the bridge lately. I've heard about a nice variety of smallmouth and trout below the bridge. Any comments are appreciated
Gavin Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Fishing below the park is either hit or miss due to the aluminum hatch but there are some decent fish down there. If you fly fish, go with streamers, terrestrials, or midges, if you dont try crankbaits, inlines, and jigs...No bait or soft plastics are allowed. Good luck.
Members phins Posted July 7, 2006 Members Posted July 7, 2006 Tried fishing below the bridge 2 weeks ago. Some nice size trout but not a large catch. If you are fishing with kids I'm afraid they will get bored quick.
sms_alum Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Jeff, I fished below the park, up from Cardiac on Friday with a guide from OzarkTroutHunter. It was a bit slow but the trout are there. I will probably be hitting it up again here pretty soon if your up to go. Your best bet according to the guide is early, but you would probably do pretty well in the evening as well. Remember you can fish anytime out side of the park. Not really sure about what to use with spinning gear but a rooster tail would surely put you on to a few rainbows. Did not catch many small mouth though. Jason
