I just checked the link JD provided. It appears that not only do I have the ability to purchase my fishing license and trout tag I get to pay MDC a fee of $2.00 for the convenience of doing so. Then I have to get it laminated to protect it.

If they are selling nearly 1,000,000 licenses per year( online) that amounts to quite a chunk of change. Not to mention the $50,000 that they will save by going to the E- permits.

Don't get me wrong, I have never complained about the increases they have done over the years, but I'm not liking this very much. I think I'll just run down to my local Wal-mart and let the guy who knows nothing about hunting or fishing try to figure out how to print my license on the vinyl at least one more time.

Like Dano says, the fee will be reduced to $1. If you purchase something with a credit card, the seller incurs a fee of either a percentage of sale or a flat dollar amount. Depending on the transaction, in this case a phone in credit card call, it could be 5 percent of the sale or more, hence the additional fee. The local guy incurs the same fee if you use anything but cash which cuts into the amount refunded to him by the state for his fees.

I was surprised to see that you can purchase a permit in MO with a CC. Most states only accept cash for permits.

And if there are any savings, like the possible $1,000,000 stated in an earlier post, I would hope the MDC uses that money to hire more enforcement officers.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Geez, you guys can argue about anything! So they're saving a few bucks. If they passed the savings along to you, your license would cost about 25 cents less. Your "convenience fee" drops from $2 to $1.

How in the world anybody can complain about paying the cost of a license is beyond me. If you're so poor you can't afford the cost of the license to fish (and hunt) all year, you probably can't afford to buy worms and .22 shells, so you got bigger problems than the license.

I couldn't agree more. How many of you ever got out of Wal-mart without picking up something else??? There went your dollar. And if you claim that you did, you spent it on a Slim Jim later. And how long did that last??? You still have your license.

I haven't read the whole dealbut, what about those without computers?? You will still be able to get a license from vendors??? What if you were already in Missouri or on the way for a visit or vacation and at the spur of the moment decided you wanted to do some fishing??? I am sure they have addressed this issue???

It remains the same, you can buy your permit any time online and print it out from any internet connection. But I think currently all you print is a receipt and they mail you the yellow license if I am reading it correctly. After March 1, it will print your actual license.

The ability to buy a fishing lic. on line is something that I have used for years. When I am going to another state to fish I order the necessary lic. on-line and love the convenience of being able to do so. If I need to pay a couple dollars extra for this so be it. That gives them a couple extra dollars for conservation and other programs.

Like Al said some people will argue about or find fault with anything. They save $50,000.00 by doing this and that frees up that money for other programs. Now with the two extra dollars I am sure that you waste more then that on other things.

Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

That fee is only for online sales, there is no additional charge if you buy at a vendor, now or after the new system starts.

How I waste my money on other matters really has no relevance on this topic first of all. Secondly, if everyone feels that they are underfunded (as most of you state on this forum repeatdly) then by all means feel free to send them donations. Last I checked they still take them.
