I'm planning to take my wife trout fishing at the Lower Illinois this saturday.

Where does the catch and release area start and end?

Thanks for any help.

Wish I could help you with this, better yet go with you. Speaking of regs, Washington State requires you to have, at a minimum, a PHD in law to interpret their reg book(s). I gave up and simply just fish (catch & release on everything except salmon) and hope for the best. If I get a ticket, its because the warden hiked into the mountains six miles to do so. I like the scenery and solitude and catching a few trout every now and then is icing on the cake.

Take Care and hope to see y'all this summer.

Hey, thanks Andy.

We tried to crappie fish on our way to the trout stream.

But we encountered hard water. The cove that I wanted to fish was iced over a full of floating dead shad.

Struck out there.

Drove to the tailwaters, and it was crowded.

The word must be out about that place.

Its a nice fishery, although we didnt get a bite.

Sometimes, its about the journey and not the destination.

Dam Site, Marval, etc.

It was take a number and get in line down there.

Not my idea of fun, but I just don't like fishing pressure.

I might go back on a real nasty weather day.

That usually keeps most of them away.

I usually fish the T & M access. There's always room to move around and fish. Plus, I've had better luck catching bigger fish there. If you want sheer numbers...fish at the gravel access area, but for less pressure and more solitude try T & M.

Where is the T & M Access?

T&M access???

There are massive amounts of shad dead or dying on the Upper end of Tenkiller.

I'm thinking that the next cold front might push them near the dam.

Maybe there could be shad funneled into the generators, soon.

2 questions

1) I guess there is no trout stamp needed this year (tried to get one and they said it is not necessary) - will this mean less stockings? I know the money generally pays for the trout.

2) T&M Access - went in December and it was blocked off with a private property/no fishing signs - has anyone else ran into this?

Thanks,

Scott
