Members joshgray Posted February 25, 2011 Members Posted February 25, 2011 That's pretty awesome about the C&R regs. I think that I'll give them a call @ Bass Pro and post what they say. Josh, I'll have to check into that. Fly rodding for carp sounds really good right now, but of course anything sounds good with the way this winter was. i hear that the cabin fever is about to drive me nuts
drew03cmc Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I have waded the Little Blue below Longview. It fishes well on low water. There have been days I had hundred fish days on bluegill up to 12", green sunfish to 9", largemouth to 2 pounds and small drum. It can fish well, and the water isn't too dirty in that portion of the river. Closer to Independence and the Missouri, it is a little funkier, but nothing waders can't keep you from. I am interested in the creeks on JAR as well. Matt, you fished on the Conservation land? There are fish in the creek then, correct? Andy

Yeah on the conservation area, I just parked back by the trail and headed on in, you can also access it (on their ground) from browning road, near the archery range and off 150, after 150 it turns to private property. There are definitely fish, the ones I was catching weren't that big but it was a short and unplanned event, I just had a rod and a couple of jigs. Where is a good place to access the Little Blue (preferably near Longview/Lee's Summit) ? Sounds like fun.
drew03cmc Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 You can access the Little Blue below the dam at Longview, just off of Raytown Rd, first turn north of 109th St. I have NEVER been skunked on that river. Carry and throw some soft plastics and some Rebel 77 size craws. Andy
shaker Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 There is some pretty good fishing on the creek that runs into Long View above the lake. I use to access it from Scherer road on the west side of the lake there is hiking trail that runs south that roughly parallels the creek. You can also go on west a bit on Scherer road and turn south there a road that runs on down to a parking area with more hiking trails. There is a trail that runs back to the east and north that runs along the creek. I have caught some bass, white bass, crappie, and few channels mostly on small jigs and spinners in the spring. I would bet that there would be a few walleye run up there in the spring too.

I'm itching like fiend to get in some fishing and I think this weekend that I could get in two or three hours if I get some reading down now. Drew, good to see you back man, I know I give you a hard time but I like to see you posts. About wading in the little blue, is it mud bottom? Maybe some time this summer we could get together and hit them up. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
drew03cmc Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The Blue is a sand/mud bottom, very soft. It is wadable, and there are nice sized largemouth bass in the river. The drum will take crankbaits and run with them as well. Andy

Maybe some time this summer we could get together and hit them up. I would bet that there is some on any of the creeks that run into Longview. They are all rocky and gravel bottoms and carry some water at this time of the year. I would check out the lower ends looking for deeper holes especially during low light conditions. Something to think about there is a walleye regulation reguarding the evening and night time fishing on creeks and rivers might be usefull to know where the lake boundarys are. Good luck!
drew03cmc Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Well, some of those creeks aren't very accessible. We could try and wade a few of them. They will all hold some sunfish species and maybe the rogue walleye. Andy
creek wader Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I've done a little researching on the Little Blue. Our tracks cross it. It's always looked inviting. It has bike trail accesses. I've wanted to kayak fish or canoe fish it, between two of the accesses. You'd need another person to shuttle you, though. As far as Big creek. Our tracks also, cross it. It looks inviting, too. But, I've checked it out on foot, a few times. It's very shallow. I think this is because it is fairly wide. However, It would be a good candidate for wade fishing. Below is a map of the lower Little Blue public accesses. Hope this helps. ... wader http://www.jacksongo..._Blue_Trace.pdf wader
