HighPlainsFlyFisher
Headed down this weekend and thinking about staying at Sunburst (camping). I've stayed at ROLF a couple times but wanting to try somewhere different. My question is about fishing access right there , are there wadeable areas to fish right there or will we have to hit one of the other public accesses? We plan on getting the toons wet and floating at least one day , but one member of our group doesn't have a boat and is thinking he'll just wade fish some spots while we are on the river. Thanks ahead of time for any info.......Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
Gavin
I stay there all the time. Fishing is good in front of Sunburst. I like the far side and bottom of the Island and the riffle in front of Justin's place. They also have a couple pontoon boats for rent if your buddy wants to float. Ask Justin for tips when you get there. Cheers.
sean c
The fishing is pretty good there plus you are close to Patrick and Blair so he could fish those accsesses and hit the islands above Patrick should keep him plenty busy if he doesn't want to rent a toon. The river is pretty low so he should have no problem wading.Give us a report when you get back I will be at Sunburst the following weekend and would love to know how you guys did. Good luck. Trout Commander
I was there last weekend (post coming) and did very well at Sunburst. Plenty of wadeable water. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. HighPlainsFlyFisher
Thanks Gavin...that's what we were hoping for. While we definitely spend most of the time floating it's nice to be able to walk down to the river from your campsite and have some decent water to fish. Good to know that they rent toons as well , I've often had buddies that would have made the trip with me if they had a boat to fish from. Appreciate the advice.......Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
