I would say that is a good way to start 2011. I hope my first trip out is as successfull. I was thinking I would get out there today, but decided to take the kids to the park. At least I can watch all of you as I help the kids down the spiral slide. Good luck this weekend and look forward to the success stories cool.gif

Crappy day for me. It looks like the lake is open from the highway, but once I got the boat in the water and down river it was frozen up. I thought it would be really thin, but it was too much for us to get through.

Got the boat out and then headed down to cooper creek. Only caught 2 small fish (no generation + high pressure + blue skies = sucky fishing).

Came back and put the boat away and then headed below springfield lake dam with my waders. Caught one 11" largemouth and missed a bigger one.

It was a beautiful day to be outside.

I have an outboard and was able to make it past the river ice. Only got to fish for 2 hrs or so in the afternoon, but caught a 4 lber and a buck bass then broke off the spinnerbait that was getting all the bites on another 3-4lb fish. Lost a small one on a crank.

Beautiful day out. My temp gauge is broke, but another guy said he found 61 degree water on the shallow windy side??? It felt warm, but had no idea it was that warm. Anyways, that was where I caught all my fish. Tight lines.

I wound up going over to the Finley - park/riverside area. Forgot to charge the battery on the truck I haven't been driving - so I didn't want to tie up the ramp with getting the canoe off the roof rack of the Jeep and all that.

Any luck on the Finley yet? The water looked pretty clear from crossing over the bridge at the park. I was not able to get the rods out of hiding, took the kids to the park at Springfield Lake. Looked like half of Springfield was out fishing the warm water outlet. I saw a couple of guys wading down below the darn, I looked over at my wife and just smiled with that look of "that should be me down there" and just kept on driving.

CrappyKing, I had a good feeling about yesterday. I just didn't have an outboard to make it possible. I wish I would have shown up after you, then I would have just followed your path.

I'm glad you caught some fish.

CrappyKing might have had a trail already busted through the ice for him to follow. :)

Ya I wasnt the first to break through, and glad of it. That 2" ice is tough on a prop and mine gets its fair share throughout duck season... So thanks JRay if that was in fact you. I did try to make some serious waves going through to further the process. Though, it will be locked up hard by mid week it looks like, wed forcast 2 degrees that night... :(
