The line was a border of Pa and Maryland ,Delaware and WV.Thats it. I believe it was completed in 1767.After the Missouri compromise in 1820 the lines of division were also called the Mason -Dixon because it was a natural way to separate north and south with a known name already in use.Check your facts.I really dont want to get into discussion here about history.but the facts are the facts.The line was surveyed to clear up border disputes that dated back to the late 1600's.
