MOPanfisher Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 hello, i was wondering if any of ya'll could let me know the status of the lake ice on Pomme. i fish by john boat and i don't want to drive all the way up there on tuesday just to look at the pretty ice. i put in at Bolivar Landing thanks If you are planning to launch a boat, just leave it at home. Only open water is a small hole out in front of dam, no ramps useable right now due to ice cover. Warm weather and wind will start to break it up soon but not as of this morning.
shockley32 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 The ice is 8" thick at Bolivar Landing. It will be a while before it thaws. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Members Shad Attack Posted February 15, 2011 Author Members Posted February 15, 2011 dang. getting sick of sitting at the house... thanks though I'd Rather Be Fishing...
MOPanfisher Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I hear ya. I may have to make an attempt to stockton or below the dam at Truman just to fish, don't care if I catch anything or not. I cross Pomme dam every morning and evening on way to and from work. The patch of water was a little larger this morning but not much yet. Gonna be a while yet.
DChance Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 fishing JoeBass on the 6th. hopefully can fish by then
Members ric lee Posted February 15, 2011 Members Posted February 15, 2011 I drove around the lake Saturday as well as around Stockton Lake. It's going to be awhile before the launch areas are usable.
Trav Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 the ice is 6 inches thick at hermitage ramp.....lets see...two inches a day if it stays above freezing? That is the rule of thumb I learned growing up in Iowa. But who knows... "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson

That is the rule of thumb I learned growing up in Iowa. But who knows... The snow melt is raising the lake level and the fresh water ring around the ice was skimmed over with ice this morning, and it never got below freezing last night, that water is COLD. The ice is looking very rotten on the main lake, if it gets enough open area to begin to flex in the wind it will break up, but the coves will be a while.
Members Salty Posted February 16, 2011 Members Posted February 16, 2011 Here is the Wheatland ramp at 4:00 PM today
