Members scotth Posted February 15, 2011 Members Posted February 15, 2011 Hey current experts. I saw the post from the guy doing the 5 day float in may and it peaked my interest in the current. My problem is I have a drift boat and wanted to know if you all knew a good trout section that the drifter would be good on. I have had it on the north fork and the eleven point but never the current. I have heard good things about the current but I have never been on it. The Baptist to Cedar grove sounded good but is there a portage around a low water bridge before the takeout? I am thinking of doing it by my self and I can't, and don't want to, drag the boat by my self. I am flyfishing and catch and release, so the other offer is if someone wants to meet up and float I would be up for that as well. Thanks Scott
Gavin Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I'd be hesitant to put a drifter in on the trout section of the Current, but maybe you could be the first! Baptist to the low water bridge at Cedargrove is really to narrow for a Drifter, IMO. So is the section between Cedargrove & Welch Spring. Might be doable below Welch but the trout fishing heads south quickly below there. I'd float the trout water in canoe a time or two before you give it a go. Cheers.

Members scotth Posted February 16, 2011 Author Members Posted February 16, 2011 Hey thanks for the advise. Is the Current smaller than the Niangua? I haven't had the drift boat down the Niangua but I have had my 16' cataraft down there several times, and they take up about the same amount of water. I just live in the wrong state. scott

The pontoon was down stream below Akers and the dude didnt look happy.. Like gavin said the drift might work below welsh.Good trout for 2 miles.
Members scotth Posted February 16, 2011 Author Members Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks guys, I really appreciate the advise. let me know if there are some other streams that would be good for the drifter and trout. And the offer to fish with you and row for you still stands. Scott
