flytyer57 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 This is what is left of Kelly's Slab. You might want to rethink your water levels before heading out. With the slab almost gone, that water will not back up like it used to and the gage is above the slab. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Danoinark Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Bittersweet, but it's all for the best. Sure love that part of the creek. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

The AGFC has gone in and redone the whole stream bank in this area. Kinda looks more like a park setting more than a wild river right now. Members Jack Hollister Posted February 17, 2011 Members Posted February 17, 2011 Kellys Slab? Im unfamilier where this is. Could someone fill me in please? Thanks!
Members Finley Cranor Posted February 17, 2011 Members Posted February 17, 2011 Kellys Slab was a low water bridge public put in to Crooked Creek that is just west of Yellville about a 1/2 mile. I was wondering if they were through? I thought that they would have sealed the broken ends with concrete and I was hoping that they would make some place to turn around in when you get down there to launch a boat?

There is a bridge across creek. I hear they are planning a boat ramp. everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

The picture was taken from the west side of the creek. I drove across the bridge and parked in the parking area. There currently is no place to launch a boat, but a canoe or kayak should be no problem. They are still working on everything down there and I don't foresee the work being done anytine soon. Members Finley Cranor Posted February 17, 2011 Members Posted February 17, 2011 The problem is if you are launching a boat to go down stream, to get to the water it is a staight drop off on the down stream side into large rocks, the up stream side has a concrete slope into the water. When the slab was there you could drive down to one end and unload your boat and then drive across the slab to the parking lot that was close and park, now you have to drive down unload and back all the way back up the hill. I hope they have more plans. It seems like they would be doing it now that the water has been so low but I guess it could come up over night this time of year. It took 2 backhoes several weeks to cut out that middle section of the slab.
