I still think he was tossing an extra fish...

Cabin Fever?? It was 66 here today. I planted some garden yesterday and worked in the yard all day today.

I think he was chumming.

I wanted to break the cabin fever and get out today, but then the wind started kicking up around 25-30 mph and I said; "Nope. Can't fly fish in that wind."

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

What kind of idiot runs into to another boat?

And who took that pic, could they have warned that guy?

Why does it always have to turn personal. :angry2: Why do I always get blamed?

I like this forum because it is not boring. It is humorous to me, It challenges my brain.

I think what happens on message boards are the words become just that words. They get taken way to literally. If we could see these comments in a face to face conversation they would not be taken by some as an argument or an attack. It is hard to see the smirk on someones face when they post. I suppose its also hard to see the steam coming out of someones ears when they post as well. Words without expressions make the internet message boards a free for all. I have just gotten to where I don't take it so seriously.

I cant say there is anyone here I would not go fishing with. (except those snobby trout guys)

A few weeks ago I posted the pics of my Legend 15 lacing. I got mixed reviews and overall feed back. I could have taken much of what was said negatively and gotten up in arms and mad. What I found is folks here have ideas and share them. By the end of the thread folks understood what I did and why. Folks got to share what they would do and why. All and all a good thing.

I posted the same info on another site and got no feedback except how cool it was etc. Not that that is a bad thing, but it just shows the passion that this group has.

I think passion and technical is a great way to describe this group and I like it.

I would not change a thing.

It's winter. Most people don't have much to talk about in the fishing department. So everyone is arguing with each other.

You may have a point there but I don't agree that it has to be this way. As I mentioned, I'm on another forum with over 30,000 members from all over the nation including some international members. There were 6,000 members on that forum when I joined. Overall, the members there retain their civility even during the Winter.

If we were just to post fishing reports, I really don't think there would be much interest. If you post a report that crappie are hitting good at X spot, tomorrow, you will probably have to go somewhere else because many will be fishing the X spot. I think many on here have learned that lesson. Trip reports, methods, lures, tactics are something entirely different. Lures and tactics will always lead to discussions, probably some you don't want to hear.

I must have missed the suggestion to just discuss fishing reports. On the large bass fishing forums that I am on, the main subjects of discussion are lures, techniques, reading structure, discussing how to approach particular lakes and streams, etc. I'm not sure what you mean by your last sentence. Lures and tactics are my main point of emphasis on these forums and I always want to hear how others achieve success.

If people would stick to adding either their opinion or more facts to threads instead of spending their time trying to tear down, villify, or otherwise intimidate or bully other people, then maybe threads wouldn't have to go there. I don't troll other people's threads and try to hijack them with nonsense, maybe if everyone conducted themselves in that manner we wouldn't have as many 'disagreements'.

Excellent point, Stoneroller. That's really what I was trying to get across with the original post.

Some of the responses in this thread were expected and I knew some of you would trot out the Kumbaya reference. No one's saying there shouldn't be disagreement. It's the way some individuals disagree that causes issues. However, it is a free country. Everyone is free to post as they wish. I just thought that some of you, with a little reminder, might realize that life is too short to waste it arguing over subjects in which both sides are so entrenched that they aren't willing to accept any facts, or respect any statements, that don't fit their current opinions.

I know with me it's cabin fever from a long winter, there's a dearth of fishing in my household, so I've got little to post about in the fishing area, and being the mischievous fellow I am, the mind wanders and takes posts with it.

One thing that a HUGE guns/outdoor forum I visit does that I agree with, is have a "general discussion" board where the silliness and politics resides, and is left (mostly) to run it's course within some limits. The rest of the forum is OFF LIMITS to politics and the bad behavior that goes with it.

I was chest deep in the thread that got locked down, but there isn't one of the guys in there that I would hold it against. In fact I was thinking that I ought to see if Eric1978 would like to make a trip down to the Current with me. He lives close by, and by carpooling the 2 1/2 hour drive down, we could save gasoline and reduce carbon emiss.......... DANGIT! There I go again!

Seriously though, if you can't argue with someone one day, and turn around and enjoy a fishing trip with them the next, you need to change your outlook. We all have a lot on our shoulders, life is to short to carry grudges as well.
