Seth Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Those are really easy to make. I just use brown popper foam cut to 1/4" pieces. Run a #12 scud hook through the middle of the foam, put a dab of super glue on the middle of the hook and push the foam on to it. Take a brown magic marker and color it brown and you have a fish food fly. They are a lot of fun at the outlets especially for first timer fly fisherman. They are guaranteed to catch a few fish on one of those.

Jack Jones Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I'm a huge fan of the ones I've bought at Tim's shop. I always have good luck on them at Roaring River....almost to the point of it being unsportsmanlike. I haven't tried them at Taneycomo yet. I do know that Anglers and Archery sells the foam pellet ones. I haven't tried those yet. bikehikefish Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Go to a craft store such as Michael's, buy those little round, brown things called "pom-poms" (i think), about the same size as fish food, super glue it to the top of a hook, and you are done. Saw guys using them at the Bennett hatchery outlet when they were feeding the trout in the hatchery. Doesn't take much skill to fish this way, but it's a great way to get a beginner, or a kid, to catch a few fish.
