Hey all, I've just moved to the area and have been building a srategy using google earth maps..there's some good looking places up by the bolivar landing where the lake narrows going up the pomme river. My guess is that there will be a spring run of white bass and all the rest of the spawners that i'm looking forward to hunting! I've got a 16ft flat bottom wide with a 20 horse jet motor, so stumps won't be a problem. Anyone thats given this area of the lake a try and would like to share some info or a fishing trip let me know!

If you go about 3 miles above the bridge you will see where ALL bass boats have to stop. That will be the riffles and there is a big sign 25 feet in the air on a tree saying the river begins here. We catch a lot of whites there every March on rogues and white rooster tails. There is places to fish for whites all over that river but most guys who hunt big whites run above the bridge before they start. Crappie fisherman crappie fish below the bridge and small mouth and bass fisherman catch a lot of spring bass above the bridge. With the river being so low all year I don't know what the river bite will be like. Like 95% of us, I have never seen Pomm so low and don't know what it will do to the bite or how long it will take for the river to come back now that the lake is back up. I just told you what it was like up till 2011. Good luck sir

Be sure to let us know how well you do with the whites. I havn't heard of any numbers being caught out of Pomme in a year or so. Anyone else notice this besides me?

Thanks guys..I've been asking around, i guess the water was let out for work at the dam, and from what i hear, they'll be holding water unless it gets above 655. until may. That should keep the lake up all through the spawn, and those fish can't help but to run upstream..i'm thinkin it's going to some good fishing..can't wait!

Well, after studying the maps even more..i see that there are two feeds to this lake. Shows how new i am to fishing this lake! There's the lindley creek end and the pomme river end. So are both ends good for spring runs of white bass and all of the others??

There was a big white bass die off at Pomme. One of the corps guys told me he had only seen 1 all year long and the MDC creel guy said he had only checked 7 all year long. You may want to take some crappie stuff with you when you go.

Thanks Trav..i'm still learning how to navigate this site, the information was useful. Looks like the pomme had some rough springs the last few years, lots of flooding. I'll go up the pomme river and lindley creek next week, supposed to be really warm all week with rain one day. A day ago we got a couple of inches in one night, dirtied up the water pretty good. There are a lot of dying shad all over the lake, so finding a lure that looks "easier" than those "perfect" ones might be futile. I just want to get on the water before i have to leave town for work! I'll be in El dorado KS for 10 weeks beginning march 14th, but i'll be back on the weekends. Thank God there's a good lake out there that i can fish too, i caught so many whites out there on el dorado lake one year, couldnt tell you how many, in two days it had to be well over 100, every single cast. I'll post and let ya'll know how it goes up the creeks and pomme river next week. Thanks.
