Bank fished near CC today. Came home with 15 keepers. First limit in a long time. Must have caught 50 crappie. No really big keepers. The bite was strong and constant through the day. They were running 10 to 14' deep on a steep rocky bank. It seemed like they wanted a little action to there minnows. Water was a little murky but not too bad. I also caught a 6 lb carp. Real disapponted when I saa it was a carp and not a walleye. It was fun though.

A lot of people felt the same way as you minnowhooker. There was also a millon boats out. (Well, a lot anyway lol) I stopped at CC launch on the way home and the bottom area was full and there was two boats on top the hill in the overflow parking. I also forgot to mention that the water temp was 51F.

Great trip Straw Hat, The bite was strong when I went the other day but not so constant like you said. Sounds better now they are getting hungryer!! thats good, I have my reel ready now. I want to go so bad but I'm doing a Walnut logging job in Mt. Vernon only about 20 trees we should get done tommorrow!! So after that Im gone fishin. So all your keepers were they all right around 10 in. mine were really good size to them and thicker this year compared to last year. Glad to see that. Im thinkin all those 9 in. crappie we all caught last year are all gonna be just about right this year, and lots of them!!! I dont know how many I caught last year but it was alot!!!! My goodness its late need to get to bed, but just have fishin on the brain , Huck

Thanks Huck.. They were all between 10 and 10 1/2". I thoought the same as you did. They must be last years fish that was just a little short. You got to get out there soon Huckfinn, maybe you can catch some walleye as well. I sure haven't been able to.

The morning bite was definitely better than in the afternoon. I caught most of my fish from 8 AM to 11 AM.

My general rule of thumb this time of year is... The cooler and cloudier it is they are more likely to be along the drop offs in deeper water (say 10 to 16 ft) and the sunnier and warmer the more likely they are to spred out along the humps and shallower banks near deep water. Remember though, these are fish so about the time you think you have a pattern they up and fool you. lol Saturday probably would have been tough. That was a big temperature drop. Sunday was a little warmer and should have been at least decent. You should have went anyway. Fishing those questionable days can really teach you a lot. I hope all this helps. I am going to try and go again Thursday (if we don't get too much rain).
