Chris Barclay Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 It sounds crazy but we've re-routed our plans to something completely different. We're going to go brookie hunting in Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We tried to make this happen a little while back but it didn't work out. It's going to this time though! We'll hit NFoW later in the spring/summer for sure. Chris St. Louis, MOcbarclayflyrods.combreambum.blogspot.com
Justin Spencer Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Chris we are going to be out there also, heading out Sunday looks like Monday and Tues will be good weather out there, looks like the weekend might be a wash out. PM me if you are going to be there during the week and I'll give you my cell # and maybe we can hook up. We're staying in Gatlinburg. Justin Spencer Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Whoops Chris, forgot you were going next weekend not this one. We'll be coming back as you are going out. Good luck, I've never fished out there and am looking forward to it. eric1978 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I haven't fished there, but I've hiked the Smokies (those were my pre-fly fishing days, unfortunately). You'll feel like you're in paradise, and you'll love fishing those streams even if you don't catch anything. The setting alone is so beautiful and serene it'll be worth the trip. We crawled out of the woods halfway through our week there and drove into Gatlinburg to clean up. It was a fine place to have a few beers and a burger...and a great reminder of why we went into the woods in the first place.

Hahaha....well played sir! The fishing is cool, a 2wt is slightly overkill but that is one insanely beautiful place....and with the rain that has moved through the waterfalls should be pretty stellar. My Youtube Channel
Justin Spencer Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Hittin the road, thought I'd whittle a fly rod on site and go that route. Hopefully the rivers aren't totally blown out, may have to hike to the top. Any fish caught will just be a bonus! Chris Barclay Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 I'll look forward to the report, Justin! Drive safely. Chris St. Louis, MOcbarclayflyrods.combreambum.blogspot.com
