Fly_Guy Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 New to this forum. Anyone have any ideas on catching whites in Fellows? When I lived in S. MO, I did real well on whites at fellows - really early (right before and through daybreak), from the spring into the summer. They chase balls of small shad, and go into a frenzy for a period of usually about 45 min. I fished the bridge area (from the bank), over the culvert. Bring a net and snag some shad, and drop them under a float about 3 foot under. I tried using two rods once, and couldn't keep up with the action. Fast and furious, but when it turns off, it's off. I even had a catfish on this method, which was promptly attacked by a large muskie. Go a little deeper and you'll find the crappie as well. and walleye - though only caught one keeper last year.

Right there with you fly guy! Another few weeks and they will be starting to go nuts. Just needs to warm up a bit more. Fly.... I will have an easier time leaving my driveway in the morning not seeing you standing out by your garage showing off your catch as I drive my butt to work Hope NC is treating you and your family well and the new job is going good. Now you need to find you a new fishin' hole. My girls keep lookig for your dog every time they go outside. If you teach your kids to fish, your wife will let you go more often.....
Fly_Guy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I do miss it there - the fishing of the ozarks cannot be undervalued. There is no equivalent fishing forum for this area either. Tell your girls the dog is doing fine - spending some time with the 'grandparents' while we look for a more permanent home. I sure do miss getting up at 3 and coming home with supper before going to work though. I'll never forget some of those mornings at fellows lake or at james river. We've found one lake here so far, with great trout in it. But more exploring is needed. Hope y'all are doing good Brian
Members AmericanAngler Posted April 2, 2011 Members Posted April 2, 2011 I hear that Brian, I am moving back just to get my freshwater fix in and to see what kind of new baits for bass I can come up with. I want to make some specialty swimbaits for Fellows and Mcdaniel those are my two favorite in the Greene county area. "Let me fish or else"
