Members cahlert Posted March 8, 2011 Members Posted March 8, 2011 Will be staying at Pointe Royale in a couple of weeks and have never fished that part of the lake. Looking upstream from the walk in area looks like it could be promising; not sure what down stream holds, but I'm thinking it may be a little deep. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I don't want to be standing where I should be fishing. Tight Lines
duckydoty Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Up stream is great. I always do well on soft hackles and midges there. If the water is off you should be able to go up and cross over to the island. That is Lookout island. Always good fishing on the bottom side of it. Thom Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I sent you a reply to your email at the new address. Midges, miracles (all colors) 2 ft under a the smallest float that you can use. Small 1/120 jigs, weighted egg flies, san jaun worms (all colors) if the water is moving slowly. If lots of water is moving go to heavier jigs or wolley buggers (1/8 oz) throwing upstream and ticking the bottom back you can also try to float them under a carrot float but keep them as close to the bottom as possible. Be sure to check out Lilley's to find the right colors and suggestions as to what to use. The shop there is current as to what to use and how to fish it. They are always quality flies and lures at the lowest prices you will find anywhere. When are you going to be at point royalle? Thom Harvengt

Thom Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I appreciate the suggestions and help. Look forward to taking your ideas on the water. These are the two flies I would definately try. They can be purchased at any of the fly shops nearby or easily tyed quickly. The upper is the zebra midge and the lower is the miracle I suggested. Use small version #18 zebra and smaller 18 or 20 miracle Thom Harvengt
Members trout newby Posted March 9, 2011 Members Posted March 9, 2011 Do you have a recipe for the miracle? I have heard about it but could not find anything on the internet about it. Thanks

troutfiend1985 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I just have a qustion and would appreciate any help. I have wanted to go down to this area for a while, but I was wondering if a boat is required, or if there is public access for wading. Hoping that maybe this summer I can get down there for a day. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis

No boat required and you can park at the boat launch parking lot close to the hatchery and follow the trail down to that area. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!!
