Got out with a couple of friends Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Good flows plus great water color plus cloud cover all weekend equaled really good fishing this weekend. Floated Kelly to Sunburst Friday and Saturday and Sunburst to James on Sunday. Caught 100% rainbows Friday and Saturday and an equal mix of brownies and rainbows Sunday. Nothing big landed but the numbers were really good all three days. Fished a stone and dropper rig all weeekend but I think Sunday would have been a good day to throw streamers and some bugs were on the water this weekend with some splashy rises so a wet fly may have worked this weekend too. Found out my skiff can make it under Patrick at 3.5' and 1100 CFS by accident(didn't realize the river had spiked so much over night) but my back leg brace to one heck of a beating. This was one of my friends first trip and I can't count the times I said "it isn't always like this" as he was releasing another fish. Can't wait to get back.

Sean,

Glad to hear you had such a great trip! Some buddies and I are going to be down there the weekend of March 25th if you can make it. If the water is muddy at that time because of rain we may hit the Eleven Point instead, we'll see how it plays out. Come up if you can make it. Good info on the skiff at 1100. I believe the highest flow I can get under Patrick is 650. I love the North Fork of the White this time of the year through May!

Chris,

We will either be back the weekend of the 19th or the 25th. I will push for the 25th.

Gavin,

After the last two trips last fall of sub 400 CFS it was really nice to have more water in the river.

No kidding, its always tough when its low. Wish I could make a trip down right now.....but I'm gonna have to wait until late April.

ARE YOU KIDDING? Ok, I am making it official....my next boat is going to be a skiff. Chris is exactly right, 650 is the breaking point for a low-pro and that is hanging off the bow unless you are loaded.

I am still pulling for MDC to build a ramp on the up-stream side of Patrick, or at least a boat slide. I would happily put a 100' winch on my trailer to be able to take out right there on 1000cfs.

Brian I was shocked when I looked at the graph. We went under Patrick at 11:00 AM Sunday. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to take the back leg brace off but that would have bought me another 3 to 4 inches of clearance.

I'm with you Brian.

That morning when I checked the water level I thought you guys were screwed Sean. I asked Amy if she knew if you took the boat down to Patrick to put in or not and she didn't know. Figured you would be filling the boat full of water or wrestling it over the bridge. Glad you had a good trip and those scratches just add character.
