Furled Leader And Tippet Length

what do you think?? fishing for smallmouth/google eye in river situations. i use a 5 weight rod.

how long of a tippet material should i use?? the furled leader is 6 foot. i am currently using 3' of 6 lb maxima

seems to work ok -- i generally throw sneaky petes, and wooly worms or buggers.

just getting into it -- but the furled leader really seems to help unwind the cast.

Seems like you're in pretty good shape according to advice given to me by the Simontons (makers of fine furled leaders!). Any longer and you may have trouble turning the buggers over.
