Zack Hoyt Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Got out on the lake today. Launched at Hickory Creek and motored over the the beginning of War Eagle. Fought a major East wind the whole time. Lots of striper fishing going on in the channels. We were targeting early season crappie. Water temp was about 49, so still a tad cold. Worked alot of structure, but struggle to get some good bites. The sun came out and wind died about 2pm and that helped alot. We had very good luck fishing large chunk rock banks and the mouths of coves. Blue body and white tail was a winner SLOWLY retrieved. Thought we were gonna get rained on a few times....but it seemed most of it stayed north of us. Water was still a bit colored. As usual, I worked the boat and camera.....so these are the fish a buddy caught. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Quillback Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Nice to see you guys got into the crappie. I keep intending to go out and try and catch some crappie, but I can't put the bass poles down. See any whites in the area? That wind is something this year, seems like it blows hard 6 days a week.
