Andrew324 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Growing up in Missouri I was always taught to respect people's private land. In "A Paddler's Guide to Missouri" it lists Crane Creek as a possible float, but they list the first access point at Hwy CC, which is lower than all the public fishing accesses. They list the section from 413 to CC as not recommended for due to low water. Getting a canoe through all that in regular water is a joke, and no serious paddler would do it, let alone an angler trying to make a point. There is enough public access on Crane to satisfy any angler I think. Although I never fish the park hardly, I do think it would beneficial for the landowner to get a little purple paint. On a separate note, the James River Basin Partnership will be organizing another cleanup of Crane Creek sometime in the next coming months, to get all those tires out and stuff. I will post on here when I know more details, I exchanged info with a few guys when I was on lower Crane this weekend. Buzz Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I don't own a GPS, but thanks for the coordinates. In the meantime I'll just have to fish until I'm tired or until I see a NO TRESPASS sign. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

mic Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Ouch Chief, that was a classic! I don't beleive in trespassing either, but if there isn't any signs or anything else to tell me otherwise just how am I suppose to know? Forget about GPS, most guys I know wouldn't check that. I would agree. I do not want to trespass because I believe farmers and landowners are less likely to give permission at a latter date. However, if the landowner is willing to walk to the stream side with a sidearm, why are they not willing to walkout with a can of purple spray paint. Let me know where your line is and I'll respect your wishes.

Members parachiteadams39 Posted March 22, 2011 Author Members Posted March 22, 2011 If I was out of line with Trout Bum I apologize to him and to everyone else on this string. My intent was to jovially disagree with him. I did make a small joke about his picking up trash -- while also sincerely thanking him for it. If my treatment of Troutbum was inappropriate well, at least someone was there to bring the tone of the discourse down even lower by calling me an insulting name! It was refreshing to see trespassing acknowledged as a crime, since some seem not to think it is. That said I was probably out of line in my accusation since opinions vary on this definition. My opinion is that he was trespassing, but I should have couched my language more carefully. As for the information from the Secretary of State, that is merely a definition of the term "State Waters" for use in legal relationships with other states and does not, nor does it intend, to address the issue of legal access. The issue of legal access revolves around navigability. On that issue I think Andrew 324 pretty much hit it out of the park.
Chief Grey Bear Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 It is actually from the Wildlife Code put out by the MDC. And I guess you looked over part pertaining stocked fish. Which by the is how trout got there. It has nothing to do with other states. BTW...you could have labled as a Jayhawk fan. Not quite sure what this means: "BTW...you could have labled as a Jayhawk fan." Or how it's relevant to the conversation.
mic Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 BTW...you could have labled as a Jayhawk fan. Steady Chief, we will have to open a new thread for that kind of talk... GO KU
