mic Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Unless something crazy happens, I will head down to Little Piney for the first time on Saturday. Anyone want to meet me in St. Louis for the drive or meet me at that stream? I promise not to post GPS coordinates of the best holes.
Chris Barclay Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 A friend was there yesterday (at Lane) and said it was high, muddy and blown out. By Saturday it should be much better. If I weren't going out of town tomorrow I'd meet you there. Have fun and let us know how you do! Chris St. Louis, MOcbarclayflyrods.combreambum.blogspot.com
ozark trout fisher Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 The fish are all dead. Little Piney got diverted to Phoenix Arizona to help supply drinking water there.

OTF, You are safe for a little bit longer. Best laid plans of mice and men. Kid's friend is sick, lost my babysitter, and I have to stay home. @#$@.

Kid's friend is sick, lost my babysitter, and I have to stay home. @#$@. I'm just kidding. Sorry about the diffulties and I hope you can get down there soon. The delay might be just what you need to get the water levels back down to where they need to be. Good luck and I hope you all catch a bunch whenever you do make it down there. You may walk into a good caddis or olive hatch and get some on top if you can get the water level below about 150 CFS-above that it will be all nymphs or streamers. Right now at 339 CFS it's right on the border of being fishable at all, even with nymphs-you could probably catch a couple but it'd be difficult. The nymph fishing gets really good when it drops to around 250 CFS.

Kayser Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Just make sure you have chest waders and not hip boots for the LP. Some of the pools at Lane can be a little tricky. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
