watermen Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 went yesterday afternoon. Water is still a little high and offcolor. Fishing was surprisingly slow. Fished from 2-5 and only saw 6 fish caught. Caught 2 from 4:30-5:00. Other than that not much action, was curious if fishing is slow for everyone this year. Usually hot right now and just a matter of putting your time in.
Members Mike3004 Posted March 24, 2011 Members Posted March 24, 2011 Fished a week ago and had a tough time as well. Did not see many other people catching fish either. Powerbait on bottom was key. With water high and murky, hard to see fish and if they are responding to your offer. I think they also tend to scatter more. Also, trout tend to move up among the rocks after the deep holes. If I have the spot to fish these trout holding among the rocks, I will try to have my offering anchor so the bait is floating suspended in front of the targeted trout. If the trout are interested, it won't be long before you have one strike. The key is to anchor the offering. I have found if the bait floats by in the rapidly flowing water, the trout are not as likely to strike. Marshmallows and yellow/orange worms also work well using this technique.
