CaptainT16 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Well, I'm gearing up for my first trip of the year down to the LIR this weekend. Plan on fishing tomorrow afternoon through dark and then early Sunday morning for a few hours until the wife says it's time to leave. I'm so used to always fishing right below the dam there that I'm thinking about trying further downstream? Anyone have any pointers or going to be down that way any of those times? I drive a tan F-150 with Kansas tags if anyone is down that way so feel free to stop by and say hello. Probably be the only 6'4" guy down there in green waders and a green vest. Just call me the Green Giant! Sure am ready to dodge some rain and see how it pans out. Zach Bearden Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I don't know man, I'm 6'2 and wear a green confluence... haha Try Marval? My mom and I went down there the past couple of days and below the camp has rendered some good fishing. T&M might be good too. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. There are bigger fish there, or so it seems to me. Its a nice place to strip bigger streamers and there's RARELY a crowd. Marval is a good place if its not on a holiday weekend...or there arent a ton of people at the camp! Its hard being a tall guy (Im 6'4) and trying to sneek up on the already skidish fish in the LIR, but it is possible! Can you still get to T&M - last time I went there was gates and no fishing signs blocking entrance.

Dont drive through the quarry, just stay to the right and you'll come to a spot where they've blocked off the road that ran to the edge of the water. Park there, and then just walk down to the water. Its about 100-150 yrds. I normally head back upstream towards the Watts area and have pretty good luck. I can usually pull in 5-6 pretty quick with a green wooly.
