I currently have some el cheapo wading boots, paid around 25 dollars for them at Bass Pro, that are just not cutting it. After a few hours in the water my lower back starts killing me and I am sure its due to the fact that my current wading boots have very little support in them. I am very picky about my shoes, 90% of the time I wear strictly tennis shoes with very good support. I am wanting to find a good pair of wading boots that offer some arch support. I have been looking at the Simms Guide series of wading boots, but they are quite expensive but if the work it will be worth the money to me. If you use another particular brand/style of boots I would love to hear your comments/recommendations as well. Thanks in advance!

I also have a problem with high arches in my feet. I bought a pair of these Simms boots last year and they are quite comfortable.

Over the years, I also have experienced the lower back pain while wading. I don't think it's from the wading boots though. You might want to try a back belt.

And here all this time I thought those were just for keeping you from drowning. Will defiantly pick one of those up! Thanks for that info!

I wonder what the difference between being in the water vs being on the shore makes on your back? I have no issues while I am fishing on the bank without my waders on, that is why I assumed it must be my footwear.

Don't know why. Maybe cuz the water pressure against you trying to stand upright?

If I'm on shore, I'm ok. If I'm wading, my back starts hurting. But then again, if I'm on shore, I also do a lot of sitting too.

You probably don't have to buy a Simms belt since they are expensive. Check the local WallyWorld or a hardware store. Any place that sells work safety products should have back belts.

I bought a pair of Simms Freestone boots last year. I fell in love with them almost immediately. They are the first pair of wading boots I have owned where my foot actually slipped into the boot without being forced. They are extremely comfortable and the toe box has more room than any other boot I have owned in the past. I have recommended these to two other friends and they both bought a pair.

have to agree with trout bum, have the same boots, worth every penny!

The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.

Simms makes a great product no doubt.......but I would opt for Korkers. After Sowbug I confirmed I wasn't the only person who loves these things. Literally feel like wearing a pair of tennis shoes. I have had them a few months and miles now. Definitely recommend them 100%.
