I always rig my warts on either 10 or 12lb monofilament or flurocarbon and always use the clip that comes with them. I keep a few extra clips incase i lose one or bend one. I also like to change out the stock hooks with #6 trebles. I have had success with a variety of styles but i think the gamakatsu EWG are my favorites.

Yeah I agree...also some folks will change out just the front with a #6 and replace the #4 on the rear with the same size, just better quality hooks.

As for our weekend, we came off the water around 1230 on Saturday due to the conditions. We were very discouraged because all these great weights were coming in and we had only boated one short on a wart the whole morning. (fishing around the Indian Point area)

Came back down Sunday morning and caught about a 3 pound white right off the bat on a 1/4oz scrounger with a white fluke. Man, when I hooked that bad boy I was screaming "Get the Net!!" only to see it was a white. Moved on out Indian towards the main lake and caught a 3 pound smallie on a 3/8 chompers green pumpkin football jig with craw trailer. That felt VERY good. Not too long after I hooked up with a nice fat KY on the same rig but she was only around 2.5. Fished that jig the rest of the day basically with a wart here and there with no further luck. We thought about making a run to weigh in right after that but didn't and then found out the 11-12 hour had 3 fish in the middle 2 range and I would have won $300. (as I am sure many other people are kicking themselves for) Oh well, after a full day plus half the 2nd day of every weigh in but one needing over 3 pounds to get any money I just never even gave it a second thought. We did run over to see the final 2 weigh ins and hold out hope for a miracle but that was cut short very quickly once the fish started rolling in.

Congrats to the winner...He actually came over to us at the weigh in and spoke to us for a second. Said he had that big beast in his live well for a couple of hours and had heard the leading weight was 6.6 or whatever and thought to himself. "Well, I guess I better weight that one I got." Said he broke out his scales and saw that 8.70 and he was so taken aback that he stepped back into his livewell and nearly fell. Sounded hilarious. Can you imagine if he had dropped that fish or fell in the lake, or BOTH?

Anyways, I will say it was quite an experience and I can't wait to come back to TR in April when hopefully it'll be a lil warmer. It's gonna be awesome.

Sounds like everybody caught them but us. We tried down the Kings (after a severe weather delay huddled under a dock), mouth of the Kings, Shell Knob, Aunts Creek, Joe Bald, Kimberling, Pt. 5, Indian Point, State Park...everywhere. One keeper over two days (that my buddy caught) and a few shorts. We tried jerkbaits, grubs, jigs, warts and anything else we could find. We just didn't have it this weekend.

We did the dinner Thursday night with KVD and had an awesome time. There were only a handful of people there and Kevin was great to talk with. All in all, everything was great and Oakley/Big Cedar did a great job hosting the event. Can't wait until next year.

We will be back on the lake this weekend for the annual Table Rock cleanup event put on by Table Rock Water Quality. If you're bored this weekend and tired of catching fish, come and help out at the clean up.

It was nasty out there but the fish did bite. Well ran event. I would like to see Oakley pay out something to the top 5. Winner take all holds back participation numbers. You almost have to win an hour to recoup entry and gas! Big Bass Bash by midwest fishing is a much better payback.

Forgot to add---oakley did not polygraph, unless I missed an anouncement.

I'm not aware of any cheating but I Do like tournaments to give the tests.

Bass XL: we were in a red and black Nitro with a 150 Merc.

Ok. I ask because we fished 1 spot near cricket creek on main lake from wed-sat. Saw a ton of boats, on in particular not so courteous, but caught a lot of fish.

That is not correct information. We poly at every event and did at this one as well.

Thank you

Thanks again for your hard work in putting on the event

Well I'll tell you what rubbed me the right way.

Free food and Free beer!!! That BBQ was great!

Figured I'd throw something positive in here... Anytime that I get to pay $160 in order to go out and have a shot at winning a $45,000 bass boat, plus a pretty decent chance of at least making my money back, I think its a good time.

Not to mention the free fishing rod on top of everything else.

I like these Big Bass tourneys, I'm happy Oakley started this one up here at TRL, and I'll be fishing it as long as I'm around.

...To everyone involved in sponsoring and hosting this tournament... Good job and Thanks!

Set the hook first, ask questions later...
