timsfly Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Roaring river is still in good shape, a bit of rain and cold weather this weekend, but the river has remained clear and the river didn't rise much, the rain had little effect on the water. Nymphing and streamer fishing was best this past weekend, the sun is out some in the afternoons and caddis and Blue wing olives have been hatching all month, the tricos are starting to show up in the mornings by next month they should be in full swing, #20-#24's are best. Griffiths gnats and small adams are also good all day, we even caught some nice trout on beetles last week. Pheasant tails, copper johns, burlaps, sow bugs, and zebra midges have been good all month. Roostertails are still pretty good early in the mornings, black, brown, and olive have been best. Marabou jigs and micro jigs are very good right now, black, olive, tan, and pink have been good. Glo-balls and san juan worms are always good, fish em about 18"-24" under an indicator, this always works. Salmon eggs in white, brown, flo. yellow and flo. orange is pretty good, cheese yellow worms, and white worms have been pretty good all month, and red worms haven't been to bad either. water is clear and about normal flow, 2 or 3 pound line is best, non florescent lines work best, braided lines and fusion lines don't work very well when the water is clear.
