Jack Jones Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I notice Bear creek when I go down 65. As I'm taking 160 into Forsyth, I'm relatively certain that this is the creek I see near Walnut Shade where there is a now closed Mexican Restaurant that looks like it used to be a gas station also. Am I correct? If so, does anyone have any experience with fishing this water, and where would you park/fish from? I've been down 76 and saw where the creek is near the one gas station/trailers. I remember being told there was somewhere to park there, but it looked a little sketchy to leave my car there. Nothing against the people but the area I saw there looked rough and the gas station had full bars on the windows/doors. Not a good sign to me. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 31, 2011 Root Admin Posted March 31, 2011 That's Bull Creek. 160 crosses it at Walnut Shade and F Highway crosses it near the "town" of Bull Creek. Don't know about access to the creek at 160- I think you can get to it right there at the bridge. Off F, drive into the gas station and straight on back thru the trailers to a parking lot near a pavilion. You can park there and walk back to the creek. Bull Creek empties into Lake Taneycomo. Bear Creek empties into Bull Creek.
Sam Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Bear and Bull Creeks run together right below where you're talking about, then combined as Bull Creek they run into Taneycomo. They're both pretty shallow up around those bridges, and hard to access because of private property. There's a rough dirt road (Blansit?) running upstream along Bull Creek above the bridge, but it's real shallow water up there. I've found the best way to fish Bull Creek is to launch a boat at Rockaway Beach and go up it as far as possible. I've caught some of most everything up there, but it gets too shallow for a boat long before you get to the bridges.
Jack Jones Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Thanks guys. This forum is always such a great source of information. Appreciate it. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
Members bronzeback miner Posted April 1, 2011 Members Posted April 1, 2011 Just a quick FYI: The Bear Creek that runs into upper Bull Shoals actually starts at Bear Creek Springs just north of Harrison on Hwy 65 down in AR.
