Members Basstard Posted April 3, 2011 Members Posted April 3, 2011 Made my first trip this year to Stockton today in a new boat (to me) and new electronics. Put in at Roark mid-morning and found vehicles all the way up in the overflow lot. Fished several coves up Son's creek, starting at the main points and working all the way to the back. The water temp was 50-52 everywhere we went and the water was pretty murkey. We threw everything but the kitchen sink and would have been skunked if it weren't for the nice White my son caught on a small big lipped Rapala stick bait. He needed a filleting lesson so we brought her home and ate her with some other fish from the freezer. Her belly could not have been more empty! Fishing should get really good later this week if we can just maintain some warm weather. Next Saturday will offer us a great opportunity to escape from the "Prom-a" at our house (for those who don't have teenage daughters at home, that's the drama surrounding the getting ready for Prom Saturday night). We'll definately make it back for the Grand March! Everyone at the ramp talked about similar luck for both Crappie and bass. Absolutely not a wasted day, though, as the weather was beautiful and it got my son and me out on the water!
Thunderin Gobbler Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 We put in at Roark Bluff about 9:30 and motored back into Greaser and then Son's Creek. Greaser was absolutely packed with boats, some crappie fishing, but most were trolling the banks bass fishing. We found fish on the graph about 10-12ft deep in 20 fow. Tried jigs, rooster tails, beetle spins, minnows, etc and could not buy a bite. We fished all over Son's creek, in the channel, on flats, around stick-ups, and never caught a fish. The only fish caught was a little, little 10in largemouth around the docks at Mutton. Fishing was terrible for us, about got stranded a couple times due to motor issues, but overall it was a great day on the water. We couldn't ask for better weather.
