DChance Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Just fished a tourney this past weekend on Pomme. The high water sure made it tough. There were 2 approaches......go up the rivers and flip jigs or stay close to dam and throw jerkbaits. We went out Friday and stayed by the dam with jerkbaits and did not do well so we decided for the tourney to go way up the the river and got excited by the clear water behind all the dirty water. However it was colder water temp and did not produce. I only caught 2 fish and one was a short. There were a lot of 1 and 2 fish bags weighed in. Not positive but I think only 2 limits were weighed. very tough....the jerkbait bite seemed to be the ticket but only later in the day after it warmed a bunch. Big bass was a 6lber, but that was the only larger size fish caught.
Members Kevin Snyder Posted April 4, 2011 Members Posted April 4, 2011 We had the 6.22 hog in that tournament but like you said it was very tough. We hit the river first thing with jigs as well and it didn't produce and then we decided to go to the clearer water at about 11:30 ang got the big one. We didn't catch another until 2:15 tough day but a BB check is nice. Should start getting better over the next couple of weeks.
DChance Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 Hey Kevin, I was the guy talking to you on the way to our trucks in the parking lot. Sounds like we had the same ideas, we just didn't decide to hit the clearer water until it was too late. Around Bolivar Landing we had 55 degree water so I wasted some time thinking there should be some more active fish there, but failed to produce any. By the time we started throwing jerkbaits there was only about an hour or so of fishing left for us.
