I've heard how the lights attract the baitfish, and therefore improve fishing, but I am curious what types of lights to use. I have a floating surface light, but I was wondering about submersible lights. What color should they be, how much should I pay, that kind of thing. Or should I just put a glo-stick on a string with a weight and drop that in? Really curious about this night-fishing. Don't want to go out underequipped or underinformed.

Any clue if a glo-stick on a string will have the same effect? I'm only going to be fishing a few nites, and its just this one weekend. I do have a floating light (regular color), but I'm not sure about the power source.

If your talking about one of those's things you break &then it glow's i don't think it will be bright enough, but you never know try it &let us know.

As far as power for floating light run it off an extra 12 volt battery.

9-7=2. :)

Where will you be fishing? what part of lake?

9-7=2.

I'm actuallly gonna be fishing on Lake of the Ozarks, but the most nite-lite- fisherman seem to fish Bull Shoals. Other than water temps, these two rock-bottomed impoundments arent all that different, so it seemed like a good idea to ask about lights on this forum.

You could probably drop it near any dock and do all right. As for the floating light, they worked before the submersibles came along, so why not?

I'm actually gonna be fishing off of a dock. I'll be staying in a condo that has 3 20-boat docks, strung out along a main-lake cove to cover 15-70 feet of water, gravel flats, drop-offs, cliff edges and main lake. Being on the dock actually alows for a lot of freedom in movement, and they have lights (not very bright), so you can see what you're doing at 10 o'clock.

Another thing is light placement. Should it be on the 30ft drop-off, 20ft flat, or a different depth with one of the two structures? All of these are under the docks.

In your situation it may not matter because in LOZ many fish use the docks as part of their "structure". You might make a point to remember that with floating lights the bigger fish will more often then not be in the shadows and all the fish will be looking for the "cripple" among the fish that are attracted.

Thanks for the tips. I'll see what I can do with what I've got.
