rps Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I went out alone this morning after the lightning stopped. I put myself on a few fish. I caught 15 before I was tired of being blown around. 3 early top water fish, four wart fish, 8 c-rig fish. You will note there are no pictures as the largest of the day was 14 inches. When I returned to the ramp, I did not tip my guide and told him to cancel tomorrow's booking. Early April and not one stinking keeper. It was nice to be out, though.
Sam Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 rps - I've fired myself as a guide so many times I can't count. It doesn't do any good, you'll be going out with the same guy again soon. For the next week or two you might consider giving those big green fish a rest. We've got fresh Tablerock crappie filets for supper tonight, big time, and a few of them are from fish longer than the bass you caught this morning!
Members Bimmer Posted April 9, 2011 Members Posted April 9, 2011 Sorry to hear about your outing. My wife and I took the maiden voyage in our newly acquired boat out of Kimberling. Unfortunately, we didn't get on the water until around 9 and as you said it wasn't long before we too were being blown over the water like ragweed. No bites for us. We're just learning to fish in this region so no expectations and yet we had fun. You COULD have been doing WORSE things! God is my Pilot! I'm just riding "shotgun".
Martin Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Sam ! Please check your e-mail if you get a chance...... mF
Sam Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Sam ! Please check your e-mail if you get a chance......mF Hehe. I mentioned catching crappie and Marty's nostrils flared like a Hottentot smelling water from 100 miles away! I've answered his email and we'll get together for a crappie trip.
Quillback Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 My guide won't take me out in this wind, he says this is the windiest spring he's ever seen. Maybe next week..
getfished Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 RPS, By an unexpected coincidence I was in Springfield on Friday. I had no gear and no plans. I called Steve Dickey and we scooted over to Cricket Creek at first light Sat. morn and by noon we both had limits of specs. I normally am obsessed with the largemouth but I needed some relaxing time on the water and that was the ticket. BTW, I drove thru the storm cell Sat morn on the way down from Springfield and it included some light hail. http://www.tacklespecialty.com/
