Patrick M Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 About a 1/2 mile above the first boat ramp on the lake, just before the R.R. Bridge. Is that the ramp right by 65? you went up river from there?
Jack Jones Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Care to share a few things Tim? What's your set up (e.g. weight, tippet, etc.)? What size bugger? And for someone who has never fished a micro jig, what's the technique to fishing those? Your wisdom is appreciated sir! timsfly Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 I put my kayak in right at the ramp, up just above the dam, I paddled up to the first bridge, it is a rail road bridge, I caught the crappie there. I would think minnows would work, I just had my fly rod and a baitcaster, caugth the crappie on the #8 chartruse woolybugger and on the 1/64th micro jig, I had it tied in chartruse with 6 chartruse sili legs, to make it sink a bit slower, I just cast it out and let it fall about 6 feet or so, and slowly brought it back in, a few I caught on the fall, but most hit just as I was starting my retrieve. I just stripped the woolybugger in real slow and steady, caught all the bass this way, and most of the bluegill that way also, did catch a few gills on a small popper.
