Members zonker Posted April 15, 2011 Members Posted April 15, 2011 first time posting here, but a long time reader. quick report: large brownies on fire tuesday and wednesday last week! the first fish stuck on tuesday was a 22" toad brownie and the final fish landed wed. morning @ 23+" (thanks to justin for the pic). released another decent brown @ blair and approx. 3+ dozen bows in between. those bows were in about every spot they should have been, and usually more than one willing to cooperate....eating a huge variety of small nymphs. streamer fishing @ sunburst early wed. morning was incredible! tight lines all.
Trout Commander Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Awesome Fish! I Love the close up of the brown in the net (what net is that?) and the one of the brown in hand quartered away. Glad you decided to join us. Thank you for sharing. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack

Welcome! Now I'm really trying to control myself. Heading down to fish from ROLF to Patrick on Sunday. Hopefully we'll get into some fish, especially a couple like these. Very nice!
FishinCricket Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I've just gotta put this place on my camping list for this summer... Man, I need to find a rich benefactor. lol cricket.c21.com
Gavin Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Very nice! Looks like your one of the fellows who caught "Happy Ending"...Dont put your trip off till summer Cricket...Spring is the time to head down there and Justin's rates are very reasonable. Summertime fishing can be very frustrating down there..Especially when the river is low and the snot moss gets bad. Cheers.
Brian Wise Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Niiiice! SO MANY big fish in the river that are uber willing to eat right now..... My Youtube Channel

Justin Spencer Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Heading down to fish from ROLF to Patrick on Sunday. Bring your big boy pants and some big streamers. River is coming up, hopefully will stay floatable, but my guess is fishing will be only possible from a boat that being said, big browns sometimes come out to eat in the big murky water. If the water stays high I would change my float and go Blair to James, or Patrick to James if it is high and you don't want to portage the bridge. Better brown water down lower, and just pound the banks and hit the softer water around the seams if you are streamer fishing.
