Randall Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I found out about the whole fad thing when I went to replace a couple saddles my dad's dog ate when I was back home. Had to resort to Bass Pro who actually wouldn't sell to salons or non-fisherman and was keeping their feathers behind the counter. It's great the fly shops are making a killing on this, but it just seems ridiculous to me. Cute animals taste better.

I'll need to see your roll cast before you can purchase that.." I can see some girls I know pulling some covert ops... lol cricket.c21.com
Randall Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I would imagine they just play the helpful salesperson and ask what they need the hackle for to figure out which skin is right for their needs. The answer would be pretty indicative unless the lady knew about tying. Cute animals taste better.

The answer would be pretty indicative unless the lady knew about tying. The stylists I know, after being rebuffed by the counter person, would either throw a fit and demand service or (more likely) they'll take a photo of the feathers they want to a friend who IS a fly fisherman and have THEM go in and buy it for them.. Where there is a will there is a way is all I'm saying... and there's apparently a large demand for feathers in that industry right now... I'm still chucklIng about the mental image of a few salon owners (some of them looking "absolutely fabulous, darling") having a verbal confrontation with Bass Pro shop employees.. aughta be interesting! cricket.c21.com
Randall Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 I won't deny the will... and I'd pay to see the confrontation. Cute animals taste better.
