It was brutal Saturday with the temps and the winds, and even though my 6 yr old and I didn't slay them we caught enough to make it fun. Mostly males that were scattered about 4-8 feet off the bank, we were fishing the mid-lake area. Most came off jigs outfitted with a crappie nibble (my son refers to them as stink bait!), red/chart or black/chart seem to work the best. I noticed the water temp had cooled a bit, about 56 degrees. We fished today and ended up with about the same count, but a little better fish. I was using a white power grub today. I'd like to hear how others did this weekend and if you think fishing will pick back up with some warmer weather. We missed the awesome fishing last weekend when they were on the banks, but I'm hoping to catch the next wave should there be one.

I bass fished saturday and caught 2 nice crappie on a crank bait in 2 fow. Surprised me for sure. I say hang around and the bite will definitely pick back up. The weather had everything messed up, it was COLD out there sat. Wed, I was wearing shorts, t-shirt and no shoes and sat, I had all of my winter gear on... Not cool, LOL

Was fishing with three other people off the the very end of horseshoe bend all day from 7:30 in the morning til 5:00 Sunday and ended up in the neighbor hood of 50 or more nice crappie. They were averaging around 11-11.5 inches with the largest measuring 14 inches stretched. Were using mainly jigs but also did well on minnows. All were approx in 5-10 fow the entire time.Did not see any on the banks at all.A good day had by all.I am going to attempt to post a picture or two on here tonight if I can make it happen.

I caught a limit on the fly rod in the same depths of water. Caught males and females alike, this is going to be their spawn depth.

Went Saturday and Sunday...and Saturday morning was brutal weather when we just got used to nice weather. We caught a few here and there, but found them in a big way by Saturday afternoon/evening. It seems like we would pick up one every now and then and then when we would find a group, we would catch 20 in 25 casts. Probably found five groups like that over the two days. All of the groups were between the docks and the shore and that had to be in 4 to 7 feet of water. It was fun, we probably caught 175 over the two days and that was after almost nothing on Saturday morning.

Good luck and good fishing

Was at LOZ Saturday and Sunday in the Glaize at Parkview Bay Condos. Observed a number of people catching crappie from bank on out. Best I saw 2 guys in a boat using green curly tail jig. Catching them every other cast.

Caught them in the little buffalo and lick creek on minnows on the back side of docks. Limited out Saturday and Sunday and kept nothing under 10 1/2 inches. They key for us was to drop line to the bottom and slowly pull up they were all mainly on the back side of docks and docks on secondary points were best.

Fish Dreamer - you mind sharing some tips on how your fishing behind the docks with minnows. The only way I can think of is for both guys to be up front on the casting deck (bass boat assumed) and fish with long jigging poles. I'd like to have my little kids experience that fun, but they aren't experienced enough to cast into such tight quarters so long poles may be the ticket.

Yeah I took some kids fishing with me over the weekend. I keep a small rope to tie on to dock lines to keep the boat steady and in place. I used a seven foot ultra light rod and flipped a minnow as far as i could and let it fall slowly when it got to the bottom i would slowly bring it up. You find alot of brush this way. When you find the brush set bobbers that depth for the kids and the crappie will bite. The kids fishing with me were 5 and 7 and used a princess rod and a hot rod car rod. They caught some really nice ones.
