Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 18, 2011 Root Admin Posted April 18, 2011 Put in at River Run at 6 pm. We headed towards the dam and started fishing the left bank and caught one white on a chartreuse swimming minnow right off the bat. Thought we were into them. Not so. We tried all my spots including Swan Creek at dusk and didn't catch another white. Saw a few on stringers- bank fisherpeople. One guy in a boat said they'd caught them off and on all day but it was a "long day".
vonreed Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I was down at the dam last night. There were lots of people on the banks and quite a few boats too. Saw a boat trolling close to the bank catching crappie and whites. Also seen probably 10 walleye caught too. Half were short and 2 guys were keeping them anyways. But the other half were good sized. I ended up with only 3 crappie and 1 white bass. 1 guy had a good spot and caught probably 10 fish that were keepers with a few walleye mixed in.
emjay Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 This erratic weather and rise in water level is easing off the fish. Had a very tough time getting onto the fish saturday night. Alot of people fishing but not alot of people catching at all.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 18, 2011 Author Root Admin Posted April 18, 2011 Not very smart keeping short walleye fishing from the bank, esp on the Forsyth side. Bucky lives just up the hill. I saw 2 boats trolling but didn't see them catch anything... but wasn't watching that close. I hate to troll and wouldn't even if meant catching a few. That's all for me for a week - heading to Texas to visit the grandson!!
vonreed Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I know it is crazy. I don't know if they thought the limit size was 15 inches or not. I'm not one to police others soo i didn't say anything.
OzarkFishman Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It was the same for us last night. We took a canoe and fished swimming minnows, BPS squirmin shad and stickbaits. We only boated 3 largemouth, none more than 13 inches.
Members scifi Posted April 19, 2011 Members Posted April 19, 2011 Went on monday night. Off bank at forsyth. Got limit of whites. Just before dusk they turned on. Very fun! .
Members Dapper Dan Man Posted April 21, 2011 Members Posted April 21, 2011 id love to get into some whites again. def good eats Eagles may soar, but weasles don't get sucked into jet engines - Unknown
emjay Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I'd suggest you hit'em up quick. If you dont find them at swan head over to the dam. Talked to a few locals that said they have been pulling out walleyes every night. Saw a couple guys just slamming whites left and right. Its been a fun week, hopefully the weather doesnt cause too much disruption.
Members yeehaw Posted April 22, 2011 Members Posted April 22, 2011 chartruese/white roostertails, x-raps, and white/chartruese sliders. Was easy pickins at least for me the last week. Cloud cover did slow down the bites, but when the sun was out, it was bites on most casts. Of course that was before this big bout of storms. Good luck!
