Chief Grey Bear Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 This weeks pic is one of my dad on a trip we took a couple of years ago. If you notice, he is in the front seat. Not a normal place for him. Even at the age of 73, I can't hardly get him out of the back of a canoe when we float. The old saying goes...take a kid fishing. Well that goes the other way too. eric1978 Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 You really are a Native American, Chief...either that or your dad is a roofer. Nice smallie for Pops there, BTW. You guys take that one off of Prater's gravel bar?

My dad is now 77 and I've been trying to get him to go out fishing with me. All he ever says is that if he want's fish, he'd go to McDonalds. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
dennis boatman Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 I think we should all post pics of us fishing with our dads. They are the ones who most likely got us interested. My dad died last October and he was the one who got me going, taking me on trips to Canada and the West. A strike indicator is just a bobber...

You guys take that one off of Prater's gravel bar? LOL! Nope, never was a roofer. He has been retired almost 10 years. No, it came from another productive spot. If I ever get you down here, I put you in front and let you have a ball! I think we should all post pics of us fishing with our dads. They are the ones who most likely got us interested. I know its going to be tough when I have to experience it for myself. Although I am trying to prepare myself for what I know it going to happen in just a few seemingly short years. My dad and I have been close my whole life and he is 60 now, so I figure at best I have another 25 years or so. I don't know how I will handle it to be honest. Andy

My dad died last October and he was the one who got me going, taking me on trips to Canada and the West. Sorry to hear that my dad passed suddenly two years ago at 58...way to young. I will never forget when he caught a 18 lb channel cat on a plastic worm. Thought he had the mother of all bass for a few seconds. I remember being a little guy and tugging on his pant leg...I wanted to try his new setup and this cool looking lure(later found out it was a jitterburg). He finally relented and let me try...sure enough I caught 3lb bass on the first cast. The look on his face was priceless. We joked about that every time we fished. You just never know so get the dad's on the water if you can.
