troutfiend1985 Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 After being away for a few days(finals are in a week), I wanted to get a post up. HAS ANYONE SEEN THE PRICES FOR SADDLE HACKLE. ESPECIALLY GRIZZLY? I saw one Metz Microbarb in new condition going for 179 dollars with over one day left in bidding, I bought mine a year or two ago for around 50 dollars. I just "ordered" myself a grizzly Whiting cape, we'll see if the guy actually has it(I have my doubts). If he does, bet you bottom that I'm going to sell my Metz "pre owned" Microbar #1 on ebay and take advantage of this gold rush, even though I used the crap out of this cape I probably will get around 50 dollars for it(which is nuts). I know that I have posted on this issue before, but seriously this is nuts. Finding a cape right now is extremely difficult, and seeing that gas is going to be high this summer, I think I'm going to get a little bit of a "capital gain." I already know that my Whiting 1/4 cape in Med. Dun is going on the net in two weeks. BTW, I would’ve signed that petition going around, but it was locked while I was in the dungeon studying secured transactions. Chief, glad to hear that you got things worked out with the sheriff. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis

Might have to give PETA a call...... Hey there, PETA already hates KFC, no need to get Tom Whiting involved in this But seriously, look on ebay and you will find some outrageous prices on these things. I know I read about Lilley having a huge sale to a woman that bought somewhere between 300-400$ of saddles. I just want to cash in a little “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Might have to give PETA a call...... I'd rather not tie any flies until the prices come down. Never in a gazillion years would I consider calling PETA anything other than a bunch of a--holes. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Never in a gazillion years would I consider calling PETA anything other than a bunch of a--holes. I'm sure this will be a short lived fad. 1 yr. at the most. I think I've got enough hackle to last me that long. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
flytyer57 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 1 yr. at the most. I think I've got enough hackle to last me that long. Same here. If not, then nymphs and streamers always work and you don't need dry fly hackles for them. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

One reason that I'm selling is that I've started to use less hackle in my dry flies. More deer hair and cdc. Just a thought. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis

Kayser Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Sold the stuff I would never use early this summer. I mean, it was just collecting dust in my tying kit, so why not make everybody happy? Give them the saddles they want, I get tying kit space (and cash!), and help reduce demand for the rest of you wanting to buy some saddles. Also, I've got enough hackle to last a while. Rob WARNING!!
