Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 27, 2011 Root Admin Posted April 27, 2011 The courteous dock at Bass Pro broke loose late yesterday and drifted into the Fish House. This am it's gone - the c-dock. The Corp at 10 am decided to hold flows where they are for now and wait to see how much rain the area gets this morning. They don't want to increase it to 80,000 cfs if they don't have to. One BIG reason is the Fish House. It's at the top of the pylons- the upright pipes that are in the ground that the place secured with. The floating restaurant rides up and down on the pylons with the water. Problem is it's at the top of the pipe. If it goes higher, the Fish House will be loose and float downstream. This could, IMO, compromise Powersite Dam if it got that far. If it did go, and it very well may, I'd think they could push it up in Bull Creek or somewhere out of the current and secure it. I'm sure they have a plan in place. Pretty incredible stuff... Yea- the media isn't covering this in the bigger cities. We're still getting calls from ppl in St Louis wanting to come down and fish this weekend.
Members Mulnik Posted April 27, 2011 Members Posted April 27, 2011 I watched the c dock float past my moms condo at 8am this morning. She is about a mile from powersite dam. Havent heard if it went over or not.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I wondered if someone was going to try to stop it. There were a lot of Rooster Tails and Kastmasters in that little shop. Man oh man... I would imagine it gets stopped before it goes over Powersite. Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Members naru70 Posted April 27, 2011 Members Posted April 27, 2011 I believe it was caught around Edgewater.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 27, 2011 Author Root Admin Posted April 27, 2011 Correction on the Fish House. I spoke with with BP and they said the building is held by huge stiff arms and not so much by the pylons. They are worried, though, about another 3 foot rise and the structure binding and bending and structure. We've gotten a little rain this morning as well as south and west of here. We'll see if it pushes us over into releasing more water.
Snow Fly Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Could bring in some good pipe welders and place some extensions to the existing pipes, it could be a stretch but MIGHT hold, lot of pressure from the current.......prayers to all! "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"

Members ubear111 Posted April 27, 2011 Members Posted April 27, 2011 I have a trip planned for May 13 to 18 ... for camping and fishing on Taneycomo. Then again during the third week of June. I guess that i will see some of the aftermath. I can not imagine the water beign this high. After the water receeds - I wonder what the fishing will be like? I read the electroshocking data that said that fish per hour were very low in 2008. This was a large decline from previous years. We are planning 3 trips down this year .... wonder if i should wait till fall on a couple of the visits? i do not wish to sound uncaring about the people in Branson - i just said another prayer for those affected.--- but i do have to wonder about this year's fishing as well ... carter

I don't know what the temperature of TR is, but I'm sure Taney is the same now. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I hope everyone's staying high and dry in this mess down there, it's pretty crazy to read all this from a distance in Chicago. To think Table Rock was 20+ feel lower when we were down 2 weeks ago...crazy stuff. I hope everyone comes out of this OK. As for BPS/their dock/the Fish House...wonder if they need a few gallons of gas to help move 'er back upstream. Oh...wait...
